Here is a link to a simple ‘email me’ or ‘contact me php page’, this example 100% works. You need to run it on a server i.e MAMP or XAMPP or on your websites server on the web.

The example has 3 files a simple HTML file with a simple form.
The form has 4 textboxes named, ‘name’, ‘phone’, ‘email’ and ‘message’.
The data in these textboxes are passed into contact.php which sends the email.
The final file is a thank you message.

No longer do we need to worry about working our way through painfull tutorial trying to get a simple ‘search’ for our websites.

Google are either trying to put web develoeprs out of the job or trying to make their lives easier

Either way this tool is really handy:

Stripe mania

Easiest thing in the world to do, create a stripe in photoshop to be used as a tiled background in a site.

However when i used css to tile my “work of art” there was some sort of border showing up beneath each horizontal pattern, nothing to do with the image.

Rather than google a solution , i googled a way around and found this.

Something everyone is asking me about , the little picture next to the address?

something i never really noticed but is becomming unusually popular and is also great trick to cover up the fact your using a CMS , the Favicon.

Simply use this little online tool http://converticon.com/ to convert your logo(.gif etc) into a .ico or icon file, then upload you ‘.ico’ to your server.

Finally add this code to the section of your index.html

replace my href with the location of your icon, or feel free to use sweetlooks

Smart CSS ~ using Javascript to take the pain away from CSS ~

I started designing websites on my 800 x 600 res laptop, when emailing clients with links to checkout the designs, i was told the sites were all over the place, looking on bigger screens i realised i had fallen into a css trap, i spend days touching up and adding code to the stylesheet so it worked on different screen types.

Once the resolution problem was solved i found the CSS was not working across browsers.

Another few days was spent fixing the CSS up again.

I was not in the mood of doing this evertime i developed a website.

The solution , what i like to call smart css, a small snipped of javascript which you place in your head tags that checks the users browser and picks the correct css style sheet. have a look for yourself at http://www.simondarcyonline.com/smartcss go view and page source to view code below is missing lines as blogger removed them.
